Genovese BASIL

Perhaps the most famous basil cultivar, popularized by its use in traditional Genovese pesto. This is a sweet and tender basil with a familiar flavor profile: floral, with mint and clove undertones, soft in mouthfeel and appearance. The leaves are shiny, almost glossy, voluptuous and feminine in their curvature. This is a very delicate product which bruises easily when handled and wilts easily with heat. Early season leaves are more gently flavored than late season leaves, whose flavor intensifies when the plant bolts in the intense Summer heat.
